Why I Write About Mental Health
There are few things I take more seriously, or personally, than mental health.
Not because it’s a trendy niche. Not because it’s “hot” in marketing circles. And not because it’s an easy sell. (If you’re a therapist or wellness provider, you already know that mental health is anything but easy.)
I write about mental health because I’ve lived with it. I’ve struggled through it. I’ve loved people who didn’t survive it. And I believe, deep in my bones, that the work therapists and healers do is not only valuable, it’s vital.
Being a mental health copywriter isn’t just a job. It’s a commitment to something much bigger than me: helping therapists help people who are hurting. If the words I write can play even a small role in someone finally reaching out for support, then I know I’m doing something worthwhile.
A Personal Story, A Professional Calling
For most of my life, anxiety and depression have been familiar companions. Not constant, not always visible, but present. Lingering in the background during seasons of high stress and surging to the surface during transitions, heartbreaks, or losses. Some days it’s a quiet hum, other days a full-body storm.
I’ve also lost friends and family members to suicide. I know the shock of the phone call. The hollow, disorienting grief that follows. The questions that never get answers.

This personal history doesn’t make me an expert in therapy or psychology, and I don’t pretend to be. But it does shape the way I approach my work. I understand the stakes. I know how difficult it can be for someone to admit they need help. And I understand the power of the right words at the right time.
That’s why I do what I do.
What Mental Health Copywriting Really Means
I’ve been a writer my whole life. In fact, my lifelong goal is to become a published author. But when I started copywriting for therapists, something clicked. I realized I could blend my skills with a personal mission. I can help therapists present themselves online with clarity and compassion. I can help their websites feel less clinical and more human. I can write words that gently say, “It’s okay to struggle. And it’s okay to ask for support.”
Being a mental health copywriter means I’m not just writing to sell a service; I'm also writing to help people. I’m writing to build trust. To reduce stigma. To tell the truth about what it means to be human, in all its mess and beauty and pain.
I get to translate the profound, often invisible work that happens in the therapy room into language that resonates with someone sitting alone on their couch, scrolling through options, wondering if anyone can actually help them.
That matters.
The Clients I Write For (and With)
I work with therapists, group practices, wellness centers, counselors, clinicians, and anyone in the mental health and wellness field. Some specialize in trauma. Some work with couples. Some offer ketamine therapy, EMDR, DBT, or parts work. Some are deeply spiritual. Some are deeply science-based. Many are both.
What they all have in common is this: they care deeply about the people they serve, and they need words that reflect that care. 💗
Most therapists I know didn’t enter this field to promote themselves online. They got into it because they wanted to help people heal. Because here’s the thing: therapy saves lives. I know this. You know this. And I want more people to know it, too.
My Goal: Doing My Part (However Small)
I know I can’t change the world. I can’t bring back the people I’ve lost. I can’t take away anyone’s pain. But I can use my skills to help the people who help others.
I can write blogs that explain the signs of trauma in plain language. I can write landing pages that normalize asking for help. I can write bios that don’t sound like résumés, but like real people you’d want to sit across from in a therapy room.
That’s how I reduce stigma. That’s how I honor the losses I’ve felt. That’s how I stay connected to what matters most.
So no, I’m not just a mental health copywriter because it’s “my niche.” I’m a mental health copywriter because it’s my heart.
